Tamarisk Ranchos was a 1958 William Krisel venture for Lou Halper, and was one of the first 'planned communities' in the desert and certainly in Rancho Mirage. The Marx Brothers were backers and owners of several of the 16 homes that were built at Tamarisk Ranchos which surround the park and pool. Lawrence Weingarten, who replaced Irving Thalberg as producer of the MGM financed Marx Brothers movies, bought this home new and unfurnished.
